    Does any one know if you can run your lights or pumps off of solar power?

    yeah if you have solar panels that produce enough power to run them.

    I have looked into it. You need:

    Solar Cells, cheap on e-bay but still expensive. Just cheaper than anywhere else.
    Deep cycle batteries to store a charge.
    DC/AC Inverter to convert back and forth between your DC Cells/Batteries, and the power you need for your devices.
    And optionally, a controller to switch everything smoothly back over to the grid incase you don't have enough stored solar power.

    You can google and find a ton of info. Its expensive to start up at first. But if done right, you can save a ton over the life of the cells.
