Why do fish always have to hide after you get them.
I picked up a Tiger Goby today and I have seen it since it hit the sand. May never see it with all the caves I have.
Atleast the mandarins I got a few weeks ago come out every now and then.

because they are in a new home and they dont know if one of your other fish will eat them or not. once they figure out there is no predators, they come out. thats my guess.
most likely the reason but I do not like it!!

I found him, he is up hovering above the rocks not even near the sand!

Lol, well I'm sure he'll come around!
I just added an engineer goby to my tank that I never see, but he's definitely working on my sand! I think he's gonna cause a rock slide though!

I feel your pain. I added a yellow watchman goby and candy pistol shrimp last week. The shrimp burrowed underneath the biggest rock in my tank, and the goby hung out on the sand for the rest of the day. From that point on, I haven't seen the goby. The only evidence until today was that I could see some sand disruption from underneath the tank. Today, I found a burrow coming out the front and caught a glimpse of the pistol shrimp, but no sign of the goby. And, yes, I've looked long and hard for carpet jerky, but found nothing. I'll wait a few more weeks to see what happens, and if I don't see the goby by then, I'll assume the worst.
Well I found him with his head in the overflow teeth, I turned of the return and he fell alive into a net, I put him in an net for safe keeping but the net feel while we were gone and I can not find him now.

Ugh! I just hoping mine didn't jump out and then get found by the cat... If he's dead, I at least want some closure so I can go out and by another.
yeah I would like a body if it is dead or some sign. He was alive in the net so its hard to say.

if you have a really good clean up crew you might not find a corpse. my peppermint, skunk cleaner shrimp and hermit crabs usually maul it in no time.
