zoa pox treatment

this has worked great for me, the only thing i do different is use tank water not new saltwater.

• place 1 capsule into the new saltwater (1 cup) and mix it good until the new saltwater turns green. Put the zoa in the Furan mix and leave it for x minutes. I recommend at least 15 min but not more than 30 min.
• After the treatment, wash the zoas in your tank water on the other cup you had put aside. Then put the zoas back in the tank where there is a stronger flow.

*Note: Your zoa will have a green dye to its body but it is fine. The green dye should fade away in a day or two.

Do 3 treatments in a row then let it rest for 4-7 days; depending on the condition of your Zoanthids. If the ZoaPox is still on the Zoanthids then continue with another three treatments. But make sure you let it rest 4-7 days after every 3 treatments.

I am not having much success with this FURAN2 treatment. I dipped each coral for 20 mins 3 days in row. Each were dipped in 1 cup of fresh saltwater(same pH, temp and salinity) with one packet of FURAN2. After 3 treatments I let the coral rest for 7 days. I am on my 3rd week of treatment and the colony of zoas just keeps shrinking. It went from the size of a softball to the size of a quarter. This is really depressing since I built all my colonies from one or two polyps over the past two years only to watch them recede to nothing in weeks. I wish there was more information on how this pox starts and what can be done to prevent it. Treating the whole tank is not an option and when your Zoas cover large areas like the size of a basketball then this treatment is really not reasonable. I'm done with zoas now.. I doubt mine will recover and I dont want to put effort into something I can't prevent. Its sad because they were my favorite corals.

sorry to hear that....have you tried to frag them? i have a colony of kedd reds that seems to get pox every couple of months, i recently fragged about 10 polyps off of the colony and put it on my frag rack. as of now my mother colony has pox and the frag up on my rack is doing great showing no signs of pox. weird. if you frag them i could try them in my tank (or maybe someone else would be wiling to) might be able to save them(not suggesting you have a parameter problem) different corals in different tanks do different things. i know how you feel about giving up on zoas, it is very frustrating, but try to hang in there, hopefully this will pass.

before furan2 I always put infected colonys in heavy flow area and it worked as well
