    Default downside of using tap water?

    Its looking like I'm gonna have to get rid of my RO2 system, whats the downside of using tap water? Other then of course algae?
    37g, 250w MH
    Mostly SPS with a few Lps and softies

    Why do you have to get rid of it,

    Algae is a big one, water quality will go to crap, how knows what chemicals will be in the water!!

    when tap water is used it builds up unwanted particles in the water over time, because only water evaporates, nothing else. so anything in your tap water you put in may not hurt your tank right away, but these chemicals can eventually build up and crash your tank.

    I would at least consider using some type of ro or distilled for top off.

    My daughter lived in Lima and I believe the water was quite hard; if I remember right.
    The mind is a wonderful servant but a dangerous master!
