Great pumps, I do not have them, I love my Streams but I have seen Andy's in action and they are nice!
    Well worth the money.

I will let Andy answer this since he has them. I know they put our alot of flow, cost less to run, smaller in tank than most pumps., less heat added to the tank.

they have no heat transfer because the motor/electric is on the outside of the tank. they also take up very little room. i don't have one but just seeing them in action i think they are the best.

Larry, you are welcome to come over and see this pump in action. I have The MP10 on my 30g. My corals love it. Probably one of the best investments I have made for my reef.

Second gene is the way to go. I beleive the difference is the propeller. I have second gen pumps which are a one peice prop. Couple hundred seems like a big investment until you actually install it on your tank. You are going to wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Used would be okay, but I would take it apart and inspect the shaft and bushing for wear--which is caused by improper alignment. Keep the wetside clean as a dirty prop will also cause premature wear. I have two wetsides that I swap out so I always have a clean one handy.
There are the new eco smart vortechs out now that have more options and flexibility. I am not sure how hard it will be finding used vortechs as everyone I have spoken with has told me they will never go back to their prior powerheads. Good luck and if you want to see this little dynamo shoot me a PM.
