i was looking at rods kinda expensive. Do you guys DE thaw and spot feed or break it and feed the fish?

it lasts forever because it is so thick you only have to use very small amounts. i put rodi water in a cup and put the food in the water to thaw, then suck out the water/food mixture with a turkey baster in small amounts at a time.

Yeah definitley use sparingly. Rods, is great stuff. Has everything a growing reef needs....except water changes

I blame my over use of Rod's Original for my algae bloom. When they say use sparingly, they mean it! A little bit goes a loooong way!

I use tank water and thaw enough Rods in it to use for several days and keep in frig. Also use Rods Coral food same way.
I target feed anemones (3), open brain, Aussie Elegance, ,and 2 plates with silverside/krill. I use phytoplankton, 'Reef Nutrition's Oyster Feast, Artic Pods, Roti Feast, and Cyclopeeze. Also use tetra flakes and the algae in clips. Garlic concentrate and Vita-Chem

Is that safe to thaw frozen food and use days later? wouldnt it start to decay in saltwater?

I only thaw what is needed for a given day of feeding. I also use rodi to thaw in. Tank water will cause shrimp to lose its oils and fatty acids.

It has not bothered anything so far. Now if I leave krill/silverside out several days like that it spoils.
How do most people do it?

I use mine for up to a week or so.

And as far using RO/DI for thawing and oils, I did not know that. I always used tank water. Good to know!
