I am nearing the build phase for my sump/refugium. I could use some experience here with this. I would appreciate everyone's input please.
The sump will be made out of a 30g long
I need some ideas
Thanks

What are the dimensions of the 30G? Which skimmer have you decided on?

I have pretty much decided on the Octo extreme 160.
30g is 36x18

How many chambers are you looking at here?

mine is made after these limpits reef videos. it works well for me but some argue that you should have the skimmer in the first section.

All my previous sumps were designed this way. With the skimmer in the middle section. I do think it would be best in the first section, if you have the room.

Nice videos. Now I just have to apply that to the 10g sump that I am putting under my 10g sump

distracted... no, a 10g sump under my 10g damsel tank. Been a long day. Working from home because my son is sick, and got pulled into a rather urgent problem at work... If I didn't have a head cold, I be drinking :D

My tanks will all be situated eventually, even if my brain isn't

Yeah, I'm gonna put my skimmer in the first chamber. I've seen Limpit's Reef many times and that is a good design...thanks for reminding me. My build has taken a new turn towards a 75 or 90g with the 40 for a sump/refugium. I have decided to go bigger. I just can't make up my mind these days. I love the nano tanks. I just don't have room for much any more.

I'm relegated to my 29g until we get a bigger house. But once we get the bigger house....

Oh you can drink with a head cold. But you have to drink twice as much to get a buzz hehe. Then you feel TWICE as bad the next day.

Glad to hear you are moving up into to big tank territory :D

Well, not moving up, per se... We have no plans on moving for a couple years. However, I believe my wife is waging psychological warfare. She knows that when I want something - really want it - I can be stopped by neither Hell nor high water. So, when I am ready for a bigger tank, she knows that I will make a way for us to get a bigger house.
