I'm changing my maxi jets to Koralias. I looked on Ebay, some say circulation, some say wave. What's the difference between the 2 and which one would work better in my 90 ? How many and what gph should I get. Right now I have 3 - 900 gph maxi jets.

I would go with a 3 or 4, maybe two of them
I would also check the new one that are coming, the Evolution pumps seem nice.

I am not sure the difference in the wave vs circulation.

Yea, me either. I don't know which one to get. I don't want to get the wrong one.

the waves are probably the ones that work with the wave maker controller....just a guess

OK, thanks. I'll check them out.

The waves are 12V, for the controller. The circulation pumps are 120V to plug into a wall. The 120's won't work on a controller.

ahhhh, ok, thanks. I just want the ones that circulate. I'll see if Justin has the new evolution. Seems they run on half the watts that the regular ones do.

He does not, they are just coming out, only Marine Depot has them but there are great pricing on the older ones.

FIY if your wanting it to wave or pulse you can always hook up the 120v koralias to a wavemaker I have mine on a JBJ duo and they work great The ones that are wave are designed for the koralia wavemaker which is nice but pricey

Does your wave maker shut them off, or just throttle them down?

It shuts them down, hasnt had any negitive side affects yet. lol. They are set at six minute intervals and work really well I keep the returns pointing straight out and the circ pumps pointing sideways It makes a good sway motion and my corals love it - perfect amount of wave

I'll have to try it, I always heard terrible things about the normal Koralias on controllers. Glad to hear it works. Sadly, one of my number fours took a dump today :(

Oh no, that sucks. My jbj duo runs my nanos Ill be honest for the first two weeks they kicked pretty hard coming on but seem to be "broke in" now. I dont know how normal that was but like I said they work fine and continue to work fine if i change the timer setting.

What are you planning on keeping in the 90? We had two number 4's in our 75's before we tore them down. We kept mostly LPS and zoas. It was strong flow, but i think with the extra height of a 90 it would have been better.

The magnums are 120v ones and im pretty sure that they can be used with just an on/off wavemaker without clacking. The regular ones will make a clack noise when turning on. We have the 12v ones now which just ramp up and down in power.

I have mushrooms, 3 brains, ricordia, goniapora, a leather, torch and hammerheads. We went to AS and got 2-4's. It is a lot of flow. We're not sure if it's the placement of them or the way we have our rocks, but it blows up the mushrooms on the sand. We moved them around, and still get a lot of flow. My 2 Hammers are on the sand, I put a big shell beside them to block some of it. We might mess with it this weekend. The Tangs love them .... lol But, I do like the way they look, a lot better then those maxi jets.

Do you Tangs swim against them too? Mine swim right in front of them, like a wet treadmill.

Yep .... It's fun to watch them. They even have the Clarki doing it. Sometimes, it will blow him sideways, he wobbles when he swims anyway.
