Is your green pocillipora really a Stylophora (cats paw)? Looking good!

It does look pretty similar to the stylophora. It's a pocillopora damicornis though. nice freebie from rich. lol, i feel spoiled this week, especially with the frags i got from you too :) Hopefully they do well, just got my new lights this weekend. What kind of birdsnest did u show me in your frag tank? the shape looks a lot different from the one i have in the first pic. Would still like to def buy a frag of that from you.

I love the new lights, such a big difference. It's a Nova Extreme Pro 6 bulb T5 setup. Lol, didn't realize how dull my pcs were till i hooked up the new ones!
Can't wait to get some more frags :) love the sour apple! Gonna wait a few weeks to see how these new ones do. Plus, I think Shane would crap if I bought anything else this week, lol. I can't seem to help myself though! He really liked your tanks btw. I think he liked all the different colors you had goin on. Ours looks pretty dull at the moment. Can't wait till things start to grow out a little.

the corals look great! if that fixture is new with the stock current brand bulbs you will want to change them out in 6-8 months. when you do i have a great bulb combo for you that will make the lighting even better!

Yea it does have the stock bulbs. Def want to do a different combo later on though. The se stock bulbs have more of a whitish tint. I like the more bluish purple look.

are they 54 watt bulbs? cant remember what size your tank was. i do have a uv 75/25 you could swap that for a 10k and it might give you what you are looking for. its brand new never used i bought it for half price from a guy who left the hobby. so 10 bucks and its yours i will never use it.

well guess that bulb wont work for you. if you want to kick up the PAR you can always set the fixture right on the tank (w/o legs), if you have a splash shield. but if you havent had it long i would wait for a week or two, let the corals adjust.

I'm not pleased with mine. (Nova extreme pro 72" 12 bulb t5s) thats on a 180gal. I had better growth with the MH on the 90g

its not the best fixture but will work. it needs to be cleaned almost weekly. make sure your reflectors are clean also the splash shield. clean the shield with ro on a soft cloth until no streaks. it should be sitting on top of the tank with no legs. also what bulbs are in it? how old are they? current bulbs look ok but have crappy PAR. also half of those bulbs are probably actinics that do almost nothing. i run 0 actinic bulbs, i have ati blue plus that are a blue bulb that have great PAR and you still get a nice dusk/dawn look.

I heard the ati bulbs are pretty good. Have u tried the fiji purple? Tryin to figure out what kind of arrangement I want.

i have not had a fiji purple. you can usually get the look with the proper combo using blue pluses and uvl actinic whites. only reason really is the fiji is about $10 more than ati and uvl bulbs. the uvl 75/25 is pretty close to the fiji just a little less par. the only time a fiji is necessary is if you only have 4 lamps.

so would it be good to do 3 blue+ and 3 white? or maybe something different?

on a 6 bulb fixture i would do
front
ati blue plus
uvl actinic white
blue plus
ge 6500k daylight
blue plus
blue plus
you may want to swap the ge for a ati aquablue if you like a more blue/purp look so it would be
front
ati blue plus
uvl actinic white
blue plus
aquablue
blue plus
blue plus
you could just grab a ge and aquablue to play with them, see what you like better.

I think I'll take ur advice and try that arrangemnet out. Prob won't be for a few months, but I'll let u know how it turns out. Thanks!

here are my bulb colors the uvl actinic white is the pepto pink color. those mixed with blue lamps will make purple. if you are in the area anytime i have a spare aquablue i can put in place of the ge and see if thats the look you want. i also have a 75/25 i can pop in but that might be too purple.

Thanks Jeremy! I like a purplish tint, but not too purple so I think I'll probably go with the first arrangement you suggested.
