I've noticed the past few months that I'm getting a short crop type of red filament algae that is starting to cover areas of my rock. It is not a hair algae or slime algae. Doesn't grow long, grows more mat-like. Anyone have any experience with this? I'll try to get a pic. What is the best critter or critters to clean the rocks of an algae of this type? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have this crap too. Its just short and kind of fuzzy. Doesn't hurt anything, just not very good looking.

Yeah, It grows right up to the edges of corals and stops. Justin recommended a sea hare so I got one on hold til tommorrow.

Thats what I have, but its shorter. It doesn't overrun anything. Corals kill it as they grow.

that red algae sucks. like techguy I haven't found it to over run anything but it looks bad on rocks. Nutrient controll is the best method to get rid of it and keep it gone.I have had good luck with tuxedo urchines as long as they get to it when ti is short.
