What does everyone use to replenish Alk, Calcium, Etc....? What are your methods and what has worked best for you in your tanks?

I use a CA Reactor and every now and then add magnesium and potassium

I use Warner Marine 2-part, Mag, Potassium and a smidge of strontium. Will probably consider a ca reactor if and when I get this 150g I got my eye on.

I either do a 20% water change every Saturday, and a Kalk drip. Thats it! If I miss a water change I had Strontium, and a touch of Iodide. I need to get a CA reactor, but they are so expensive.

We dose calcium, magnesium, alkalinity, and a little Iodide to the zoanthids

Can we explore this more?

I'm afraid due to lack of knowledge. Im at the point just pass the 'undecided' mark as to dose or not dose. Trying to observe any changes in the tank when I do/do not dose. But I don't believe that I've dosed enough time/quantity to make a difference.

Tech1>strotium>calcium is what I've used.

We have a calcium reactor, and dose Strontium, molybdenum, and super iodide.

We dose 2-part to maintain Alk, Cal, and Mag. We have been slowly improving the overall water quality the last couple weeks trying to dial in the new system. On 12/09/09 we had Alk at 8 DKH, Calcium around 480, and Mag was at 1250. This was with water at 76F and salinity at 1.026 according to the swing arm. Still want the Alk a little higher but we are taking time to get there.

I can never get my Alk above 7 for whatever reason. I have tryed everything! But it seems to be in balance when my Cal is 480-550 or so (stupid kalk drip)!

Is that problem on just the sps tank or all your setups? or are they plumbed together?

All plumbed together! But even before that, it didn't matter what my CAL/MAG/PH was. My Alk would never climb above 7ish. Only in my 29G was it 9-10. I tryed almost everything out there.

In the end all that really matters is a balanced equation I guess. If your PH is stable, mag is correct, and your not precipitating cal everything is fine. Or so it seems from my system. It all balances out for me in the end I guess. I run my calcium high, and my PH is rock solid. So I don't worry to much about it.
