Some information about the White-faced Surgeonfish from my views and some from the internet. Also Called Powder Brown Tang, White-nose Surgeonfish, Japan Surgeonfish, and many more. Many Times confused with the Acanthurus nigricans.
The difference bewteen the to are the japonicus has a larger white area on its face and more color on its body.
Scientific name: (Acanthurus japonicus)
Minimum tank size: 70 Gallon tank is what is recommended online. I would say go 100 gallons for these tangs as they need alot of swimming room.
Food: Mine ate pellets and all foods I added to the tank. Eats off the rock alot, picking at the algae.
Care/Compatibility: Easy, does not seem to need anything special.
Reef Safe: So far I have not had any issues. I have mainly SPS corals, I do have a tube anemone. They seem to do like being in a group of one male and a few females
Other: Nice looking tang and my wife's favorite fish.
