Almost done :D
System consists of:
120G SPS Reef, 2X 250W 14K halide, 4X 54W T5 Actinic,
75G Mixed Reef (no softies), 2X 150 10K Halide, 2X 130W Actinic PC,
55G Mixed sump, macro algae, benelithic zone under the refugium,
75G Frag tank, 400W Halide (not sure on the bulb), 70W (not sure what bulb yet) halide.
Reef Octopus DNWB-200 Recirc skimmer, BRS Dual GFO/Carbon reactor.
So far I have the sumps drilled, and pumps hooked up. Doing a leak test now. I am just running the water from one end to the other using one GenX PCX-40, looking for another one. One for each tank.
Still need an auto top off, already plumbed my RO to the basement for water changes.
To do? Plumb the tanks to the basement, plumb a "T" with a ball valve off one of the return pumps to a drain for water changes. I should be able to do my weekly 30G change in less than 10 minutes once the water is mixed.
Pics to follow!

Such a tease!!
:smilie_112:
Sounds like a nice system, can not wait to see pictures.
On the 75 frag tank, why a 400w bulb? seems like that would heat the tank alot.

Heat would be a plus! Its all plumbed together into one system.

Ran into a problem. One of the fittings on the pump is leaking. I purchased the wrong thing. So with a little luck I might have the 75 plumbed and running tonight. Woo.

I just snapped the bit on my hole saw. DOH! Sucks too. Dust in my eyes, in my hair, ugh. Now if I can find my allen wrench and another bit I will be back in business.

Turns out the wall I needed to go thru is two layers thick of brick. My dining room must have been an addition to this very old house. So we went under the wall lol. I really need to take some pics.

Yes we love pictures here.
Why not drill thru the wall?

Its about 14" thick, and was an outside wall. Who ever did the HVAC before removed a small piece of the basement wall. And its directly below the tank, so I was able to break out a small hole that I can patch around the plumbing.

Ok, so update time. Jeeze!
The Gen-X pump? Water change pump plumbed into my sink drain. I replaced it with a slightly larger pump, 7200GPH. This pump is feeding both tanks. The 75 is up and running, still trying to get the flow just right, if I crack the valves open I am blowing sand.
I have one overflow on the 120 plumbed, and I am about to fire up this pump, and drain the sump.
The halide is hung over the frag tank and running.
To do: Plumb the other overflow, setup the skimmer, finalize the electrical stuff, fine tune flow (sucky!).

Sounds like this is going to be a nice system. Would like to check it out sometime.

This pump is a beast! Its pulling almost 10 amps. Its actually fairly quiet, but one of the drains is touching the vents under the stairs. So it amplifies it thru the house. Its pretty bad. I shoul dbe able to put the finishing touches on it tonight. I did get my skimmer back up and running in a temporary location.

10 amps is alot, can you put something around the tube to help with the noise at the vent.

Yes it is! Its a little scary. I don't want to see my next electric bill.

Cut the pipe leading from the pump and put a furncoat "rubber" fitting to dampen the noise. It will help tremendously.

You and your fittings. We used a whole box of these. You have to hear the soudn this thing makes in the vents dude.
How about I mash mod your face? :D

But for real. I can't find those fittings in 1". They have them in 1.5", but 1.5 is too big. I need to hold this pump back some. I almost overflowed my tank last night.
I need three people to get this adjusted properly.

Could you use a flex hose just in that area?
Aquatic Specialists

Yeah use 1 1/4" tubing and some hose clamps, that's how we do it down here in south Troy

I could and I might, but flexible PVC has to be mounted to something. Its fairly rigid, then it puts pressure on the rest of the system. Securing it might be more of a pain than its worth. It would increase my overflows capacity considerably though. Maybe I will just redo the damn whole thing tonight lol.

Yeah can you move it away from the vent?

I was speaking of about a 4-5" piece of vinyl tubing, to dampen the niose.

can you just stick a piece of foam tubing insulation around the part thats by the vent? this stuff cuts back on noise tremendously.

I know I know. Jeeze! Got my other pump, got my skimmer running, built the frag racks, got the halide on a timer, and I got my dual phosphate reactor going. I have one drain to run and I am done. I'll post some pics tommorrow or tonight. I don't think you want to see my mess right now lol.

Here are a few pictures. I'm trying to get a few things finalized, and CLEANED! Its a mess! But it running! The skimmer needs moved out of the frag tank. I need to get the right parts for the flow adjuster, I had to cut a piece to get it out from behind the tank upstairs.
The tank picture is my wifes 75 we just set up, and her new clowns we love. Allardi clowns are awesome, lots of personality.
