Some information about the Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp from my views and some from the internet.

Scientific name: (Lysmata amboinensis)

Minimum tank size: Any

Food: Mine loves pellets and to clean the fish.

Care/Compatibility: Easy, does not seem to need anything special.

Reef Safe: So far I have not had any issues. I have mainly SPS corals, I do have a tube anemone and the shrimp have not bothered it at all. I have seen a few cleaner shrimp on my clam back when I had clams but never saw a problem.

Other: Fish use the shrimp to be cleaned of ectoparasites or dead tissue

Mine do an awesome job cleaning my Tangs. The only issue I have with them, is they will steal food from the corals when I spot feed.

Will they play nice with a coral banded shrimp?

Only if your system is big, Coral Banded Shrimp are territorial

Since my last post in this thread I have added one of these Skunk cleaner shrimp along with a Blood red shrimp...and the coral banded that was in there first has left them alone with no problems. They hang out in very close proximity to each other on a regular basis, but it is a 125 so there is plenty of room if they want to get away from each other.

I love my cleaner. I named him Mac, which is short for MacGyver. lol

Taken from this description:

Intelligent, optimistic, laid-back, resourceful. He prefers a non-violent resolution to fighting where possible.

As for cleaners and a coral banded shrimp mine have been together for a couple months now and never see any conflict between them.

Yeah, I just added a cleaner shrimp and I already have a peppermint., I think there is a territorial issue going on that maybe a couple more rocks will help with.

I bought one, didn't see him for a month so bought another, than the other one came out. So, I have 2 very lazy Cleaner Shrimps. I never see them cleaning the fish, but I must be very dirty because when I put my hand in there, they are all over me. And mine take food from the corals also. But, I love them :)

No, I think you need a bigger tank, Andy ;)

Mine was very shy at first. Found a cave and hid up under it all day. Now he isn't afraid of anything. He's also getting big, due to stealing food from anything he can. Definitely one of my favorite tank inhabitants, even if he can be very intrusive these days.

I just noticed this thread. Great pic btw. I've got a blood red shrimp and a small peppermint shrimp in with my cleaning crew. Would adding a third shrimp be too much for a 28G? I worry about them not eating enough or eating too much. They eat flakes or brine shrimp that the fish don't catch.
