So today we installed a retrofit into my canopy. I must say the install went great. The product is great if you want canopy lighting! I am very fortunate to have a friend that is great with electrical stuff and all things DIY. Very happy.
I have from front to back:
Ati blue
Ati purple
Ati blue
GE white
Ati blue
Ati blue
They run on 3 ballasts and are wired so that the outer most lights are paired, then the next outermost and then the two innermost.
All that being said, I thought I would have them ramp up by turning on blues, blue and purple, and then white and blue...and cycle off in reverse. All of this over the course of an hour or so to give somewhat of a dawn to dusk effect.
So after all six are running how long of a photoperiod should I start with:
A) While cycling the tank. Do this without light? I think I have read that. There will be LR.
B) With fish. Will too long simulated days stress them out? They do me...lol
C) And eventually with some zoas... This is the first light requiring species I want to try.
I'm sure there are different opinions here, but I'm interested in what you all think cause I don't know where to start. I'd like for the lights to be on in the evening so I can enjoy them. Thanks!
