I need some ideas so put on your thinking hat

I am going to be adding a new skimmer to my setup.I am running a wet dry filter and have no room for the skimmer I want to run so I have to make a chamber for it. I was thinking of just pumping water to a chamber skimming that chamber and then pump the water out back into the filter. I would like to hear all ideas and comments.

why not get a skimmer that does not need to be inside a sump. That way you can just set it beside the sump.

I also thought of that. I would have to drill a hole in the filter for the return which is no big deal .The cost is higher for a dry skimmer.

If you want to have the skimmer in a chamber, have a pump feed into that chamber (such as a 10g), and then gravity feed it back into the wet/dry. It's impossible to get two separate pumps perfectly synced.

Conversely, you could feed said chamber via gravity, and then pump the water back out, too...
