im swithching my lighting on my 30 reef from t-5 39w 10,000 day and460nm actinic to 250w mh should i continue to use the t-5 also or in some kind cycle between the two. i have frogspawn,mushrooms,seabae,hammer,zoo. should i start out just a few hours a day until thecorals and fish get used to it?

Would bepend, what 250 bulb will you be using? I would only use the t-5 if you are switching it to a blue actinic.

You may not need the t-5s unless you are after alot of blue

no,i prefer to see the natural colors, how many hours a day should i run the lights. it also has built in led lunar lights on a separate timer how long should i run them?

the MH I would run 8 or so, you could fo less if you keep the t-5s as 10000ks

Yeah really just playing around and see which you like better. To me Picking lights is the hardest part of this hobby.

i should get the lights in on mon or tues . i ll try like you said about 8 hrs a day and see how the corals react .

That is all mine are on. You could put the t-5s on just so you have more time with lights but saving on electric.

well i got my light , and of course with my luck the halide bulb is broken ,only the lunar leds work,which they are pretty cool ,but thats obviously not the only reason i bought it. i have an email into the place where i bought it so they can replace the bulb hopefully.
