Chlorine

If saltwater is 1.94% chlorine and sea salt is 55% chloride, why do we use chlorine remover? Shouldn't we use something to remove just some of the chlorine?

Alot has to be with the fact we have a closed system, the chlorine would kill. Plus your tap is most likely 99% chlorine :) , you have to get it lower.

Chlorine/Cholride does not equal Clorine based bleaches used to disinfect your local water supply. :p Chloride is a basic element that binds with Sodium, Potassium, Calcium and the other Alkaline metals to make salts.

Chlorine bleach used to disinfect your water is completely different.

I beleive it is chloramine that we need to remove from the water. Jeremy hit it with the carbon block on the rodi. That is what mops up most of the nasties before the membrane then di finishes it off

And when all else fails, just poor bleach (chlorine) in the tank and walk away ;)
