This is the short pulse mode it is running on now. I need to mess with other modes later to see what I like best, but I am satisfied with this for now.

Yes I am using the foam guard for extra protection. I got a pack of 3 spares and it came with one so I will keep the pump clean.

How far from the top do you have your mounted?

It is about 6-8" from the water level at the top.

Nice wave action. I am willing to bet that will crank out more if that filter sponge was removed.

Yes it is the new Eco Smart. It has a couple more modes and can run other "slave" pumps via wireless driver.

I started w/o it, does not seem to slow flow down much, but I am sure it does a little.

Not much change yet, but I think I might get a little better polyp extension soon. The corals have a lot more of a random flow though.

I've noticed even with my lowly SCWD alternating the flow that my SPS corals are getting much better polyp extension. Everything else looks the same, except 'healthier?'

I've had to clean up puddles of drool over the Vortechs a lot lately :) --Adding to 'the list'

I'm "borrowing" one to figure out all of the modes. Did you download the full manual off the website? There is an "auto-tune" for the short pulse mode. I used that and got a pretty good wave on the 75. If you auto tune, the nutrient export mode will use your auto wave in that mode also.

Check out the manual, this thing has a ton of features not in the quick start.
