Well, I figured I would order a couple of these and test them out over one of the tanks.

I will post pics when they come in. Looks like a great little led spot lamp.
I picked up a 12k and a 20k both with 60 degree lenses.

No. not yet. I am going to look for a couple of the long flexible type that dont have a sheild/can to use. What makes thes neat is they use good old edison 26/27 sockets.

This is the 12k par38. First pic is with lamp held over my head as far as I can reach. Second pic speaks for itself. Third pic is roughly 10 feet from wall. Fourth pic is about 2 feet from wall.
All pics were taken with lights off and pitch black room.

When I ordered these lamps, I specified 60 degree lenses. Nice spread of light. I will post up pics of both lamps over the 14g for color comparisons and height over tank.

With the rock you bought at Reef Systems & that lighting, this tank is going to look amazing. I can't wait to see it up and running with corals & fish!

These shots are with both Par38 lamps 12k and 20k hanging about 36" from top of tank. Not real great pics. Will get better ones as I lower the lamps.

Ok so Andy let me borrow these to test over my braces, the 20k is not bright enough, the 12k seems ok but I think for the price I could get the stronger Cree LEDs and make something. I will post pictures later.

Reading with a Lux meter
58500 above the brace, 37500 right under the brace, 6700 on top of the rock.
The brace is causing to much loss in light.
