Whats the difference between the 55 and the 35? http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelComparisonResults?storeId=15001&catalogId=13401&catGroupId=75009&surfCategory=Blu-ray%20Disc%26%238482%3B%20Players&cacheProgram=11002&cachePartner=7000000000000005702&items=301234|301233| The only difference I found is that the 55 plays divx and has an analog 7.1 output. Not to mention I'm kinda scared about Panasonic, I'm on my third dvd burner from them. My original $200 burner has now cost me over 3. If anything I'll prolly go with something that streams Netflix.

The sound out put is different and the analog part. I will find better specs for you. Amazon has the 55 for only a dew dollars more than the 35

My TV and Blu-ray have been fine. If that is a PC DVD Burner I would agree, that is a different part of the company and the PC stuff is not as good.

I would go here http://forum.blu-ray.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29

The guy that are into Blu like we are our tanks say this about the Samsung players: Slow loading times, firmware failures, freeze up during movies

Firmware is something you will update alot on the players

This is something that is different between the 55 and 35, the 55 has better load
times.

Here is another good read: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=70335

It was a home dvd burner. $321 for the 55 and $226 for the 35. Blu-Ray is a lousy idea anyway. Sony undercut Toshiba that mostly the only reason why Blu-Ray won. That and when Sony owns 50% of the movie studios what do you expect. Anyway, I think I'm getting a Wal-mart gift card for it. The other thing the 35 doesn't upconvert. When the samsung for $200 does. The more and more I read about Blu-Ray the least I'm going to spend alot of money into it. Knowing Sony, we'll have to get different players every couple of year anywa.

Man do not get me started on this Blu vs HD DVD crap. You have it all wrong as many others did. Sony was not the only one that started Blu.

Yes there are already better players in the works. Panasonic is working on 3D player.

This is how anything works, there will always be something new and better.

Blu won because of Disney in my mind, all disney movies rock in Blu!!
Sony helped by making the PS3 a blu ray player. If Microsoft would have made the xbox 360 an HD DVD player that would have help HDDVD do better but all they wanted to do was make the war last longer so they could push the Download movie crap.

Its not being wrong or right, look at the white pages on them. HD-DVD had better sound, no DRM, and was cheaper to make. Anyway the Xbox 360 came out before the hd-dvd, and Microsoft did make an hd drive for it, i own one. I aslo have several hd movies and never had to update once, worked right out of the box. My friend the manager of a local gamestop, he has on average 1 ps3 returned a week, because they quit playing Blu-ray. I believe that when you pay that much for a player you shoulnd't have to update the firmware just to play movies. Don't matter really now anyway.

yeah does not matter anymore but again I believe the sound is not better, they are the same.
Blu has bigger storage, better studio support, and so much more.

For the record: Blu-ray Disc was developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc_Association), a group representing makers of consumer electronics, computer hardware, and motion pictures.

I did not buy into either until I saw a format that was gonna hold out, blu did that so that is what I got. I know several people upset over buying so many HDDVDs and not will never get more. I also know several people with PS3s with no issues. I also know Toshiba tried to push some other DVD as soon as HDDVD failed. The PS3 problem was about the backward compatibility. That is why they no longer play old games. All new systems work without issue. Sony found the problem and could not fix it so they stopped making those models.

You update the firmware for many reasons. Same as why you should update your PCs firmware and other electronic equipment firmware.

Either way without a 46" or larger TV you will not see much difference out of the Blu or HDDVD than a standard up converted DVD.

3D video is the future so do you wait on it or buy what is out now?? It is all about do you want to stay on top of the technology or wait until it is cheap.

One with glass you have use could be out as early as 2010, the other which projects the image in 3D on a table is still a few years out.

Hince the reason why I told Michelle i wouldn't pay more then $200 for one. We see a difference in hd and upconvert on our 42

Mine was free with the TV, but I want one for the computer room, I need a TV for it to so hopefully I can get another free deal.

I can not wait to see how much they want for the 3D stuff!

I've had my Panasonic Blu Ray player, the older 30 model for almost a year now without any problems. I haven't had to update the firmware too often, and when I do, I notice an improvement in the load times of the discs, so the firmware is doing both DRM updates and improvements to the OS.

Found out today that I'm getting a wal-mart gift card for sure, so I'm stuck to whatever they sale. After having bad experiences with the mentioned panasonic burner, I'm still going to try my luck with Samsung.

They have Sony, Memorex, Sylvania, Samsung, and Panasonic.

I guess I can never buy anything again as I have had trouble with alot of brands :D
